The discussion topic for today's meeting was, "Tips to Avoid the Pitfalls and Traps of International Mobility." Deloitte hosted the meeting at their downtown Kansas City office. With 25 people in attendance, we had a lively discussion in an informal, "round table" format.
The meeting started with a lunch provided by GS3, catered by Dean & Deluca. Patti Wilkie from Deloitte then began the meeting with a presentation on "Strategies for Policy Development" with Q&A held throughout. After a short break, Brett Cummings from Deloitte presented on,"Taxation Implications with Policy Development" with Q&A held throughout. After closing comments by Tim Stockwell, attendees were free to partake in refreshments, provided by Deloitte.

As Chapter Lead for the new Forum for Expatriate Management (FEM) chapter in Kansas City, we held the inaugural event on February 22nd. Hosted at Cerner's headquarters in North Kansas City, we brought together over 40 professionals from a wide variety of fields, all related to global mobility. Attendees hailed from such companies as:
The event started with a lunch and networking opportunities.
We then moved into Cerner's 200 seat auditorium for the presentations. Tim Stockwell from GS3 kicked off the meeting with an introduction to FEM. He was followed by Heather Rangel, with Deloitte Tax, discussing, "Integrated Compensation Data Management." Heather presented via webcam due to the fact that her flight from San Jose, CA was canceled the night before. Next up was Cindy Shearn, with Fragomen in Chicago, discussing, "Corporate Immigration Law." The last speaker was Brett Cummings, with Deloitte Tax in Dallas, discussing, "Fundamentals of Expatriate Compensation."
We wrapped up the FEM event with a happy hour.
